** 12pm SLT – MENTIROSA PERL **
At noon join the divine Mentirosa Perl, a classically trained singer turned rogue street performing guitarist, writes songs that tell stories about life, love, and humanity.

Perl can lull you into a a carefree bliss with mellow, smooth songs. Her sound has been compared to Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell & Jewell, but her song writing is unique.

** 7pm SLT  -  NANCE Brody **
An indie gal all the way, NANCE walks her own path. Having played the physical stages for what seemed like an eternity says NANCE, endless touring, equipment lugging and empty hotel rooms. NANCE is the first of a new breed of exclusive live online performers. She now solo performs live concerts on the net, primarily in the fantastic live streamed music venues that have been created in the virtual world of Secondlife.com, enjoying a truly international audience!

NANCE has a very unique style that is enjoyed by many. Courageous, sexy, and out, NANCEs love for music shines in her voice, guitar and lyrics. She has made her audiences laugh, cry, smile, heal and ponder, she is loved dearly by many fans around the world.

** 8pm SLT – KEVINBEAR WATANABE **
KevinBear floats thru originals and amazing renditions of his musical influences including John Prine, Neil Young, Townes Van Zant, Kris Kristopherson, Bob Dylan and the other great songwriters whose lyrics have captured a moment in his life.  There is probably nobody in SecondLife that plays and sings with as much honesty as KevinBear Watanabe.  You will wind up floating with him and you will find yourself not wanting it to end.  It is a rare treat to have the opportunity to hear him perform.

** 9pm SLT – MOONDOGGIRL MOOMINTOOG **
Moondoggirl was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota…the sparkling Land of 10,000 Lakes. She cut her teeth on folk, lost my innocence to rock, grooved on jazz, and came of age with country. The passion for writing has always been in her bones. She began her trips to Nashville several years ago when she realized that writing had become a way of life. In December 2006 she made a permanent move to Nashville.

Lie back on the grass and enjoy a spectacular display – some of the most realistic in SL!

I would like to point out two entrants who created amazing items Kurston Brody, MissPure Voom, and Moire Georgette, they created stunning pieces! We encourage everyone to check out each entrants store if you haven’t had the chance to see our design challenge entries do it while you still can! We would like to thank our members for all the work they have done in pulling of this new concept in events its been a real feat but so much fun! I would also like to thank all the entrants for setting aside time in their First and Second Lives to create an entry. You showed us fun and variety on the creative end in Second Live content creation. We thank you, and enjoyed every moment and item. We hope you enjoyed our challenge and will enter our Summer Design Challenge in July. Theme: Too Darn Hot!/Cat on a Hot Tin Roof/Fever! details later! We also hope that residents enjoyed seeing what a simple theme can develop into in a variety of ways. Please stay tuned for more design challenges, and other Cafe Society Events!

The Flamingo Design Challenge’s Flamingo and Flamencos Party

What makes the most exciting event of the season? Challenge designers to create a wearable item inspired by a flamingo, add a hunt, photo contest, four DJs, a live band and Cinco de Mayo extravagance for 12 hours!!!

On Saturday, May 3rd from 12 pm until 12 am, The Cafe Society is presenting an amazing 12-hour event in celebration of Cinco de Mayo!

The theme is “Flamingos and Flamencos,” so be sure to put on your Latin Groove and come on down to be a part of this exciting, sizzling-hot fiesta! During the festivities, if you are not too busy salsa dancing into the sunset, you will get the chance to vote in the Flamingo Design Challenge, where prizes will be awarded to the designers who receive the most votes. Come prepared for a full day of fun events, including a sim-wide hunt, an event photo contest, voting for the design entries, flamingo races, four fabulous live DJ’s, and the best live Latin band in SL — *Shamanes* — performing not one — but two — sets!

Come dressed to salsa dance under the tropical sun by day and shake to the sensual Latin grooves on the steamy seaside promenade at night. Afterwards, join us for an exclusive after-party on our glamorous yacht! You will not want to miss this once-in-a-slifetime event. See you there!

Flamingo Design Challenge Deadline Tomorrow

Reminder to everyone The Cafe Society’s Flamingo Design Challenge’s deadline is tomorrow April 25th 12pm slt. I will post all the items here on this blog Saturday April 26th.

On Sunday April 27th, Luicee Babii and I will be appearing on Tonite Live with Paisley Beebe show.  We will be showing off the Flamingo Entry’s and talking about the Cafe Society on SLCN.TV.   This should be really interesting cause its LIVE, and its VOICE!  Stay Tuned! BTW, we will be announcing the theme for the next Design Challenge for the coming months at this time.  This next design challenge will include Skin, Hair, Avatars, along with this last challenge’s wearable fashion related items.  Check back here soon for details on The Flamingo Design Challenge Party on May 3rd, where we vote on designs and hand out awards!

Flamingo Design Challenge Extended!

Due to requests due to the closeness of the deadline and Clothing Fair and a busy Skin Fair we have extended the Deadline for submissions to April 25th!  Yes!  You DO have time now to submit!   Go ahead and put it in your store for sale as soon as you have sent us your entry card.  Don’t forget to add your photos to our flickr group!!!   Go Mad Dahlings!

Be a part of an awesome event to help raise money for homeless dogs while buying awesome creations for your av!

On March 6th the auction will begin for some ONE of a kind designs and special creations!

We have items being auctioned off from Hexed, Neko Gear, Fashionity Fantasy, Fickle fee and AW Design, Ingenue, Inspired, Draconic Kiss, Spirit, Fuel, Lapgirl, Malinconia, Sh*t Happens, Rave Nation, Geometrica Design, Szentasha Designs, and two one of a kind sets from Ravenwear one for him and one for her! Cute shoes from Fuel and Maitreya. There will also be skins by Unpredictable and Skin Within. Some awesome hair for auction by Mau’s and Mej’s and Gurl6! ****Note From Raven Lament****

In a nutshell K-9 New Life Center rescues all breeds of dogs has them vet checked and made healthy and then finds them new homes. This can be very very expensive as some dogs come in with such issues as heartworms which cost almost $1000 to treat. They also neuter or spay all dogs before adoption. They also have taken in some really bad abuse and neglect cases including a dog that was pregnant and placed in a trash bag and thrown into a ditch to die and another dog that was shot and left to die. I am happy to say both dogs were nursed back and found awesome homes including all of the mommy dogs pups. I have personally been involved RL with this charity for 9 years and have seen all of the success stories and happy endings. It is an awesome cause and I would love to really try to help them out by using our virtual power!

Flamingo Design Challenge (extra Info)

Want to address a few things that have come up

1.  This is open to all of Second Life’s Fashion Designers.  You do NOT need to be a member of The Cafe Society.

2. You MAY enter more then one item, BUT you MUST complete a entry form FOR EACH item entered if it’s not a complete outfit.. Example    You make a Dress, which comes with hat, gloves, jacket, shirt, shirt, these are purchased as 1 item through your vendor so it counts as 1 item/entry.  You also get so caught up in the fuschia feathered  frenzy you whip a wild pair of jeans.  These are sold through your vendor as 1 item therefore 1 entry (fill out another form to enter it-and label the entry instore as Entry #2)   But no, you dont stop there, you’ve gone stark raving mad and done a set of t shirts.  Well here it gets tricky, if you sell them as a fatpack that fatpack cannot count as 1 entry, UNLESS you ONLY make it available for sale as 1 item.  If you set them separated out in the store too for sale, each one must then count as an entry.

3. yes its a REAL award (all official like cause thats how we roll) in fact its a Flamingo Statuette on base.  Crafted of the finest Purple Gems known in Second Life.  I Spy a diamond for the eye.

Flamingo Design Challenge ( the details)

Create an item of wearable clothing (no Skin, Shape, Avatar, or Hair) using “flamingo” as your guide to theme. You may make companion pieces like skin, shape, avatar, and hair, but these are not to be considered part of the design entry. Examples of acceptable items are: Skirts, Shirts, Jackets, Dresses, Aprons, T’s, Tanks, Sweaters (get the hint?), and accessories like purses, shoes, jewelry. See quite Simple, if you right click and wear, and its NOT Shape, Skins, alternative Avatar, and hair, then you are on the right track.

Obtain a Submission form from Whimsy Winx, or The Cafe Group Notices (you can join and unjoin-we know what its like to be limited to 25 groups) Or make a notecard with requested information to be entered into The Cafe Society’s Flamingo Design Challenge. Return to Whimsy Winx by March 20th, 2008. Rename Notecard adding your name to the end of it example: TCS-Flamingo Design Challenge Submission-Whimsy Winx
