Be a part of an awesome event to help raise money for homeless dogs while buying awesome creations for your av!

On March 6th the auction will begin for some ONE of a kind designs and special creations!

We have items being auctioned off from Hexed, Neko Gear, Fashionity Fantasy, Fickle fee and AW Design, Ingenue, Inspired, Draconic Kiss, Spirit, Fuel, Lapgirl, Malinconia, Sh*t Happens, Rave Nation, Geometrica Design, Szentasha Designs, and two one of a kind sets from Ravenwear one for him and one for her! Cute shoes from Fuel and Maitreya. There will also be skins by Unpredictable and Skin Within. Some awesome hair for auction by Mau’s and Mej’s and Gurl6! And last but certainly not least adorable animals by Zooby!!

The Fashion show featuring these awesome items will take place on March 9th at 12 noon slt at Ravens Requiem. Bidding ends on march 10th at 6 am slt. We will also be donating off very generous gift boxes filled with gift cards from the following stores:

In a nutshell K-9 New Life Center rescues all breeds of dogs has them vet checked and made healthy and then finds them new homes. This can be very very expensive as some dogs come in with such issues as heartworms which cost almost $1000 to treat. They also neuter or spay all dogs before adoption. They also have taken in some really bad abuse and neglect cases including a dog that was pregnant and placed in a trash bag and thrown into a ditch to die and another dog that was shot and left to die. I am happy to say both dogs were nursed back and found awesome homes including all of the mommy dogs pups. I have personally been involved RL with this charity for 9 years and have seen all of the success stories and happy endings. It is an awesome cause and I would love to really try to help them out by using our virtual power!

Flamingo Design Challenge (extra Info)

Want to address a few things that have come up

1.  This is open to all of Second Life’s Fashion Designers.  You do NOT need to be a member of The Cafe Society.

2. You MAY enter more then one item, BUT you MUST complete a entry form FOR EACH item entered if it’s not a complete outfit.. Example    You make a Dress, which comes with hat, gloves, jacket, shirt, shirt, these are purchased as 1 item through your vendor so it counts as 1 item/entry.  You also get so caught up in the fuschia feathered  frenzy you whip a wild pair of jeans.  These are sold through your vendor as 1 item therefore 1 entry (fill out another form to enter it-and label the entry instore as Entry #2)   But no, you dont stop there, you’ve gone stark raving mad and done a set of t shirts.  Well here it gets tricky, if you sell them as a fatpack that fatpack cannot count as 1 entry, UNLESS you ONLY make it available for sale as 1 item.  If you set them separated out in the store too for sale, each one must then count as an entry.

3. yes its a REAL award (all official like cause thats how we roll) in fact its a Flamingo Statuette on base.  Crafted of the finest Purple Gems known in Second Life.  I Spy a diamond for the eye.

Flamingo Design Challenge ( the details)

Create an item of wearable clothing (no Skin, Shape, Avatar, or Hair) using “flamingo” as your guide to theme. You may make companion pieces like skin, shape, avatar, and hair, but these are not to be considered part of the design entry. Examples of acceptable items are: Skirts, Shirts, Jackets, Dresses, Aprons, T’s, Tanks, Sweaters (get the hint?), and accessories like purses, shoes, jewelry. See quite Simple, if you right click and wear, and its NOT Shape, Skins, alternative Avatar, and hair, then you are on the right track.

Obtain a Submission form from Whimsy Winx, or The Cafe Group Notices (you can join and unjoin-we know what its like to be limited to 25 groups) Or make a notecard with requested information to be entered into The Cafe Society’s Flamingo Design Challenge. Return to Whimsy Winx by March 20th, 2008. Rename Notecard adding your name to the end of it example: TCS-Flamingo Design Challenge Submission-Whimsy Winx

Flamingo Design Challenge

The Cafe Society is issuing a challenge to the fashion community.

Create a wearable item of clothing or clothing related (No Skin, Shape, Hair, or Avatar) using “Flamingo” as your inspiration/theme. You may make companion pieces that are skin, shape, hair, avatar, to be sold along side. But these are NOT considered part of the Design Challenge.

Have fun, be creative! Register to participate by obtaining an entry form, and submitting it to Whimsy Winx by March 20th. Release your design in store/onrez/Slex by March 25th. This is NOT a charity event. You may charge lindens you deem appropriate for the item. We are planning an awards party to celebrate on April 1, 2008 around 7pm slt. Location to be announced.

We have created a Flickr group The Cafe Society’s Design Challenge for entrants to post their ads/promos to. The Cafe Society plans to host more Design Challenges in the future as well.

We are in the advanced planning stages, more details will be announced here in the coming days so stay tuned. Entry Kits will be available in the next couple of days.

The Cafe applauds the *Another Fundraiser* group!

*Another Fundraiser* is having an amazing charity drive for Unicef. The Cafe nods their heads in approval at such a noteworthy undertaking, the likes of which haven’t been seen. Miss Sasy Scarborough has put together a crack team to organize this, and has opened the start of it this week.

Second Life Residents are urged to create skins for charity using Eloh Eliot’s Skin Templates. Eliot recently made these available on her blog as an experiment to see exactly what effect it would have inworld.

Second Life citizens have begun to use them to create their own skins, and stores are popping up around the grid, established store are expanding to include their own skin line, and now *Another Fundraiser* with Eliot’s approval on the name choice, is going to better not just the faces on the grid, but help make a difference to a child somewhere in the world.

Just released for viewing are the amazing skins that Aphrodite Outlander of Aphrodite Creations has made for *Another Fundraiser*, you may view them inworld at her store in Star Scythe, or on her website.

LaynieWear has also created an amazing skin, which is viewable on her blog.

Another Fundraiser Information

Dear Creative Geniuses,

Eloh Eliot of Another Shop recently set out her skin range in full perms format, this has caused a huge amount of buzz in world with the expectations of scams involving using the skins.Many have struck first by giving the skins to as many places that give New Residents freebies etc, so that they, if not going to wear them, are at least aware they are a skin that they could get for free.We’ve already started to see some incredible skins come out of this, featured on some of the blogs, and we wanted to give people the opportunity to expand on that.Eloh states in a comment on Shopping Cart Disco ,”I also thought it’d be moar awesome just to see how other people could use full-permission stuffs to learn from and make something else–after all, SL has a lot of really talented and motivated people–especially when it comes to d.i.y.-type things. “

In the true spirit of giving we are organising an everyone involved Charity fundraiser, called “Another Fundraiser.” All money raised will be donated to UNICEF. Another Fundraiser will be utilising the skins in the Another Shop collection. The idea is that you the creative ones download the skin psd’s from Eloh’s website. Add to it either tattoos, art, make up, lingerie, whatever you want to do to make it unique.

We plan to place the skins in categories so that many different themes are covered Examples would be: Fantasy, Goth,Vamp, Fetish, Fae, Diva and so on.

I have had the pleasure of speaking to Eloh since she put the skins out and she is happy with this idea, and we really hope that many of you participate, also the lovely Melanie774 Kidd has started a flickr group so that people can share their pictures of these creations, and we are hoping that many already involved in showing will be eager to participate in this event.I also wanted to thank those already involved in the set up of this Fundraiser…..Eloh Eliot of course for not only giving so much from herself but allowing us to continue to give in her name.

The Event is starting now and we ask that people have all their submissions in by Midnight SLT the 21st of January 2008 earlier would be great :0).

What you need to do once you download and create your unique skins by using the psd files created by Eloh Eliot * Upload your unique skin maps into world and make the skin….name it what you want the skin to be called, but in parentheses include (Another Fundraiser)..make the skin Mod/Copy/Transfer . (this is only to give us the ability to set perms on them for sale, which will then be NO Mod/Copy /NO Transfer )* Pick up Another Fundraiser Vendor KIT from In-World location or OnRez and take Vendor style pictures of your skins including your store brand/logo ( You all have fans ) , be as creative as you want with that but make sure that the picture includes a full body picture as well as a frontal and profile face shot, so that all your uniqueness is shown (You do not have to be naked for these pictures, that is personal choice) Full Perms Pictures are required.

*Write a notecard to include with your skin or skins about your store, you and why you were motivated to contribute, it can be because you wanted to flex your creative muscles, and/or because you wanted to give something to charity. Whatever the reason it’s nice for customers to see what the motivation is. (full perms notecard )

* A Second Notecard with your permission to use these skins and pictures to raise money for “Another Fundraiser” and nothing else, make sure this notecard is NO MOD/Copy/Transfer, all skins will be deleted after the event and only ONE member of the team will have the skins to set out to sell for Charity, **NO Members of the Group Another Fundraiser will receive free skins**.

* Make a folder called “Another Fundraiser” (Your Name/Store) fill it with the vendor pictures, notecards and skins making sure that the pictures are named the same as the skin they belong to and that all are full perms and send them to Sasy Scarborough in world.These items will be set up in inworld locations. to be announced , and also on onrez as a complete pack. The skins donated to this fundraiser will be sold for 50L each skin with the option to pay more if you desire in appreciation for the creators work and of course for Charity.

There are also plans for events surrounding “Another Fundraiser” making it a festival like occasion, more information on that and everything else will be posted in advance.We are really excited about this as we will be sure to see some incredible individuality come out of this…

Meet The Artist Recap

Friday, November 2nd, 2007 at the Nova S. Straaf Gallery, aboard the virtual titanic rivaling SS. Galaxy, members of The Cafe Society and the public were enchanted with the works of Willum Tosung.

The art was lively, and the company grand. Tosung’s use of the female form is colorful and full of movement. Tosung is an artist to watch in the Second Life art community, he is currently working on another installment in the Flowers series, and Female Business Leaders in Second Life, and a series of Landscapes. Willum Tosung’s work can be viewed month long at the Gallery.

Willum Tosung, has created a series, Flowers, on display for the month. A virtual kaleidoscope of the female form. Sure to amaze, and create wonder, this is an artist not to be missed.
